Avemco® Continues Its Safety Education Tour at 2014 Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In

Frederick, MD March 25, 2014 — Avemco Insurance Company will present three safety forums as part of the educational tracks provided during the Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In at Lakeland, Florida, April 1-6, 2014.

Tuesday, April 1 at 10 am in the FAA building,“What Kind of Pilot Runs out of Gas?” will be presented by Mike Adams, Vice President of Underwriting at Avemco. Adams will share his own story and depict how easily the scenario of an empty fuel tank can ruin a beautiful flight.

Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the CFAA Bldg, Room 4, Adams will present “Top Ten Aviation Insurance Myths.” Attendees will discover the most pervasive myths that often keep pilots from getting the appropriate insurance coverage for their aircraft and flying activities. Attendees will also learn tips on separating fact from fiction regarding insuring their aircraft, the “hidden treasure” of liability coverage, and the risks of flying a rented or borrowed aircraft.

Wednesday, April 2 at 11:00 am in the CFAA Bldg, Room 7, “Flying the Southeast: Findings from Avemco’s Files.” Mike Adams will provide a fascinating peek into information gleaned from the files of Avemco Insurance Company, exploring both those mishaps that are reported to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and those that aren’t. He will shed light on the most common causes of GA accidents specific to the southeast United States and possibly assist attendees from becoming a statistic.

In addition, Adams and Marci Veronie, Avemco Vice President of Sales and Marketing will be interviewed by Sun ‘n Fun Radio, at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 2 and by the Florida Aviation Television Network on Thursday, April 3 at 9:30 am. They will explain the Avemco Safety Rewards program and this year’s sponsorship of the Youth Aviation Adventure (YAA) organization. YAA was founded in 1997 by pilots and encourages youths, ages 12 through 18 to experience all aspects of aviation.

Adams is Vice President of Underwriting, an instrument-rated pilot and a past president of the Oregon Pilots Association. His more than 30 years of combined experience with general aviation and the aviation insurance industry helps pilots to understand why many of Avemco’s coverage’s and underwriting decisions are designed to help keep them safe.
