Avemco®Safety Education Tour Features New
Forums at 2013 Sun n’ Fun Fly-In
April 2, 2013 Avemco Insurance Company Vice Presidents,
Marci Veronie and Michael Adams will be co-presenting two safety education forums
as part of the educational tracks provided during the Sun n’ Fun Fly-In at Lakeland,
Florida, April 9-14, 2013.
Their first forum, “Top Ten Aviation Insurance Myths” will be on Tuesday April 9
at 1:00pm in the CFAA Bldg, Room 4. Attendees will discover the most pervasive myths
that often keep pilots from getting the appropriate coverage for their GA aircraft
and flying activities. Attendees will also learn to separate fact from fiction regarding
insuring their aircraft, the “hidden treasure” of liability coverage, and the risks
of flying a rented or borrowed aircraft.
Veronie and Adams will then present “Traits of Superior Pilots-An Insurance Perspective,”
to be held on Wednesday April 10 at 11:00am in the CFAA Bldg, Room 7. During this
forum, based on actual Avemco insurance claims data and loss prevention research,
Mike and Marci will present findings on why some pilots are less likely to have
accidents and what all pilots can learn about the traits of superior pilots.
Adams will also present an FAA forum “Unique Safety Perspectives: Findings from Avemco’s
Files” on Tuesday, April 9 at 10:00am in the FAA Building. Many mishaps are reported
to the NTSB. Many aren’t. Mike will provide a fascinating peek into information
gleaned from the files of Avemco Insurance Company. He’ll shed light on the most
common causes of GA accidents across the country and perhaps assist attendees from
becoming a statistic.
Veronie is Vice President of Sales and has experience in underwriting, service and
sales during her 25 years with the company. At Avemco, she leads the team of direct
aviation underwriters responsible for all owned and renters aircraft insurance policy
products. And she’s on the phones herself fielding the frontline calls on everything
from first-time renters to multi-airplane owners.
Mike Adams is Avemco’s Vice President of Underwriting and has been with the company
for over 25 years. Adams is an instrument-rated pilot with over 750 hours. As senior
underwriting officer, his role is to determine related requirements for Avemco’s
insurance policies and to help customers understand why many of these decisions
are designed to help keep them safe.
The Avemco Safety Education tour is an aviation advocacy initiative that focuses
on encouraging pilots to participate in relevant training for safer flying and smarter
aircraft ownership. General information compiled from Avemco’s claims data will
be offered to assist pilots with choices that might help avoid accidents and provide
expertise about insurance that will benefit aircraft owners and renters.
